Job Summary

As a Data Analyst on the Commercial Enterprise Analytics team, you'll play a key role in transforming datasets into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions. Using your expertise in SQL, SAS, or PowerBI, you’ll perform analysis and create compelling visualizations and reports. Your work will enable stakeholders to make informed decisions and guide crucial business strategies.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Your ability to translate technical data into impactful business strategies will be essential in shaping our commercial success and driving growth. Under minimal supervision, monitors all aspects of premium production, including new business flow and the various components of retention. Aggregates and performs analysis on business data based on requests from leadership within the Commercial Enterprise. Ensures data quality in reported results. Interprets data to identify business trends and identifies possible causes. Integrates data from multiple data sources or functional areas when necessary. Writes queries or reports to provide data for analytical projects, and wherever possible utilizes a self-serve query tool like Power BI to empower end-users of the reports. Educates internal users on various reports and how to use them effectively. Serves as a Business Power User for Business Objects and other reporting tools. Runs and publishes monthly/quarterly reports separate from certified BI Portal content.

 

Note: the CE Analytics team is not responsible for forecasting and advanced analytics like ML and AI, or storage or curation of raw data.  This team works primarily with curated data for reporting or the joining of curated datasets to build reports.


Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • 4-6 years of commercial insurance experience
  • Analytical and proficient with numbers and formulas
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, Access, and Business Objects
  • Knowledge of Python and/or SQL 
  • Knowledge of Power BI
  • Understanding of insurance metrics
  • Understanding of databases, data sets, and tabular models.

Preferred Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, or related field
  • Associate in General Insurance designation
