Job Summary

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Cloud Security is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud security frameworks to protect the organization's cloud infrastructure. This role involves leveraging advanced cloud-native and third-party security solutions, driving automation in security processes, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The position focuses on securing cloud products, network connectivity, and application layers across environments while fostering innovation and operational excellence.

 

"This position offers a flexible hybrid work schedule, combining remote work with in-person collaboration. This role can be based out of our West Bend or Madison offices. Fully remote candidates will not be considered at this time."

Responsibilities & Qualifications

 

  • Design and Implementation:
    • Design, deploy, and maintain secure cloud solutions, ensuring robust perimeter and internal controls.
    • Recommend and implement security components and configurations to safeguard identity and access, data, applications, and networks.
    • Collaborate with the Information Security department to ensure security policies are implemented consistently across all cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Security Engineering and Optimization:
    • Manage the security posture, identify and remediate vulnerabilities, perform threat modeling, and implement robust protection measures to defend against evolving security threats.
    • Automate security configuration and compliance checks using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
    • Develop and enforce security best practices for identity, access management (IAM), and privilege controls.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to integrate security requirements into network and application deployments.
  • Governance and Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards by implementing appropriate security controls and documentation.
    • Identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities within cloud infrastructure.
    • Work with Information Security to align on audit readiness, security standards, and reporting practices.
  • Incident Response and Risk Mitigation:
    • Serve as a key point of contact between the infrastructure team and Information Security during security incidents.
    • Lead efforts to resolve incidents impacting cloud infrastructure, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
    • Collaborate on threat intelligence sharing and assist with regular vulnerability scans and penetration testing.
  • Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity:
    • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for secure, highly available cloud environments.
  • Mentorship and Leadership:
    • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative, security-first team culture.
    • Act as a bridge between the infrastructure team and Information Security, ensuring strong communication and alignment of goals.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on cloud security technologies, guiding architecture decisions and driving technical excellence.

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Technical Expertise:
    • 6+ years of experience in cloud security.
    • In-depth knowledge of:
      • Cloud security tools and platforms.
      • Secure hybrid connectivity solutions (e.g., VPNs, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect).
      • On-premises and cloud-native network security controls (e.g., firewalls, segmentation, DDoS protection).
    • Familiarity with industry standards such as NIST, CIS Benchmarks, and OWASP.
  • Automation and Tools:
    • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools like Ansible or Terraform.
    • Familiarity with SIEM platforms, vulnerability management tools, and IAM solutions.
  • Certifications:
    • Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, Azure Security Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Security Specialty, or GCP Professional Cloud Security Engineer are highly preferred.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
    • Leadership experience, including mentoring and guiding team members.
