Job Summary

The Commercial Surety Assistant Underwriter position is an excellent opportunity to develop and expand knowledge of the surety bond industry as an underwriting trainee.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

*This position is an in-office role located in Madison, WI.  No remote opportunities for this position are available at this time. 

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Assist territory underwriters in answering phone calls, emails, and processing commercial bond renewals.
  • Maintain underwriting files, requesting necessary file updates including properly signed indemnity agreements and business/personal financial statements, and updating credit reports as needed.
  • Work with Commercial Bond underwriters to establish approval criteria for new bond forms, and build out configurations in our front-end issuance platform, setting all necessary auto-approval underwriting requirements.
  • Attend instructor led and web-based training, paired with self-study coursework, to enhance and develop underwriting acumen and knowledge of the surety industry.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with agents through phone calls, in-person visits, and other strategic marketing opportunities that may arise.
