Job Summary

This summer internship is tailored for college students entering their senior year who are interested in pursuing a career in the insurance industry.  Interns will receive training in our product lines and gain exposure to real-world underwriting practices.

Work Location

This position is an in-office role located in West Bend or Madison, WI. No remote opportunities for this position are available at this time.

 

 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

The role will assist in operations such as quoting new business, processing renewals, and contributing to various underwriting projects that impact profitability. The program also offers a broad view of our organization through cross-functional experiences with departments such as Claims, Loss Control, Accounting and Sales.

 

Additional opportunities include:

  • Job shadowing with experienced underwriters to observe territory management and book-building strategies.
  • Field visits with Loss Control specialists to understand risk evaluation in diverse business environments.
  • Agency interactions to learn how underwriting decisions align with agent relationships and submissions.
  • Professional development through mentoring, Capstone presentation and feedback sessions that highlight your internship journey and impact.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably Risk Management & Insurance, Business or Math
    (rising senior status in Summer of 2026 is highly preferred)
  •  Intermediate knowledge of personal computers
  •  Interpersonal skills
  •  Exceptional communication skills
  •  Ability to contribute in a team environment
